Project Description and Impact

Our students complete projects aligned to specific technical competencies. Their proficiency with those skills is evaluated via a rubric in Google Classroom. The tool we've built is meant to extract student grades from Google Classroom automatically. The application interfaces with the Google Classroom API to function as a scraper, working around Google’s missing rubric functionality within the Classroom API.

Student grades are scraped from the HTML of graded project rubrics, using standard API-accessible data from Google Classroom to index each individual submission, then navigate a browser to the submission & scrape grade data. We have had a challenging time addressing bugs and documenting our work so the tool can be easily maintained in the future. The bugs have really limited our organization's ability to extract our student proficiency data which is extremely important as we work to understand our program outcomes and communicate that to our stakeholders including funders. We'd like someone to come in and address the bugs and write documentation that would allow us to maintain the tool.
